Ryan Poulos Essays - Internal Combustion Engine, Tuned Exhaust

Ryan Poulos English 101 The Technology Of A Snowmobile Engine If you study and look at the history of a snowmobile engine, it has improved in many ways. I feel they have improved in two major ways. Number one being in performance, and number two they're more environmentally safe. In order for you to understand how this has happened, I will explain to you the engine of a snowmobile. A snowmobile engine is called a 2-cycle engine. This means unlike a 4-cycle which you would find in a car, 2-cycle engines fire every time the piston reaches ( top dead center ) T.D.C. Now if you look at a 4-cycle, or car engine it only fires every other time the piston reaches T.D.C. This advantage gives snowmobiles a great power to weight ratio. If you stop and take a look at a twin 600cc two cycle, it produces about 110 horsepower. Now if you take 600cc and convert it to cubic inches you get 36.6ci providing 110 horsepower. Further more we can compare that to a car and see the advantage. If you take a V8 305 cubic inches, you would figure out that it only has about 240 horsepower for all those cubic inches, and all that extra whight. That's how snowmobiles can be so powerful, but still so small and light weight. Unfortunately over the years people discovered a problem. Environmentalist thought if the piston fired every time it reached T.D.C., it had to be releasing gas and oil through the exhaust and into our atmosphere. This posed a problem for the snowmobile industry. But the companies researched and came up with three things. One is fuel injection so only the right amount of fuel is let in to the engine. This allows it to burn all the fuel, but is not very good for performance enthusiasts. So for performance machines they went back to carburetors, but cleaned the engines up two different ways. They started producing machines with variable timing, and variable exhaust. Variable Timing is done electronically by the more you advance the throttle to let the fuel in the engine, it electronically advances the timing so it fires faster to burn all the fuel faster and cleaner. Variable exhaust is a regulation of the exhaust port. This works by a slide or valve, that varies the shape of the port for true tuned exhaust. This helps burn all the fuel and gets the exhaust out the most efficient way. Another exhaust trick they use is right in the pipe itself. Today they use a megaphone pipe, to create a Venturi ( increases velocity) effect, that sucks out burned exhaust better than a normal pipe. Year by year snowmobile engines increase in performance and become more efficient and environmentally safe. This all goes together to benefit mankind in there needs and wants, and nature in its cleanliness so we can continue to go out and see nature's amazing beauty.

How to Use Parentheses in Writing

How to Use Parentheses in Writing The parenthesis is a  punctuation  mark, which is written or typed as an upright curved line. Two parentheses, ( ),  are generally paired and used to mark off explanatory or qualifying remarks in writing. Parentheses indicate an  interrupting phrase,  a word group (a statement,  question, or  exclamation) that interrupts the flow of a sentence  and can also be set off with  commas  or  dashes. The parenthesis is a type of  bracket, which when paired with another bracket- [  ]- is  used to interject text within other text. Parentheses are prevalent in mathematics, too, where they are used to set off arithmetic symbols as well as numbers, operations, and equations.   Origins of the Parenthesis The symbols themselves first showed up in the late 14th century, with scribes using  virgulae convexae  (also called  half moons) for a variety of purposes. By the end of the 16th century, the  parenthesis  (from the Latin for insert beside) had begun to assume its modern role, as Richard Mulcaster explained in Elementarie, which was published in 1582: Parenthesis is expressed by two half circles, which in writing enclose some perfit branch, as not mere impertinent, so not fullie concident to the sentence, which it breaketh, and in reading warneth us, that the words inclosed by them ar to be pronounced with a lower quikker voice, then the words either before them or after them. In her book Quoting Speech in Early English, Colette Moore notes that parentheses, like other marks of  punctuation, originally had both elocutionary  and  grammatical  functions: [W]e see that whether through vocal or  syntactic  means, the parentheses are taken as a means to downplay the significance of the material enclosed within. Spanning more than 400 years (Moores book was published in 2011), both authors say essentially the same thing: Parentheses separate text that, while important in that it adds meaning, is less significant than the text that falls outside of these punctuation marks. Purpose Parentheses allow for the insertion of some verbal unit that interrupts the normal syntactic flow of the sentence. These are called  parenthetical  elements, which may also be set off by dashes. An example of parentheses in use would be: The students (it must be acknowledged)  are a foul-mouthed bunch. The important information in this sentence is that the students are foul-mouthed. The aside adds texture to the sentence, but the statement would work fine and make sense without the parenthetical information. The Chicago Manual of Style Online explains that parentheses, which are stronger than commas or dashes, set off material from the surrounding text, adding that; Like dashes but unlike commas, parentheses can set off text that has no grammatical relationship to the rest of the sentence. The style guide gives these examples: Intelligence tests (e.g., the Stanford-Binet) are no longer widely used. Our final sample (collected under difficult conditions) contained an impurity.Wexford’s analysis (see chapter 3) is more to the point. The disagreement between Johns and Evans (its origins have been discussed elsewhere) ultimately destroyed the organization. The style manual also notes that you can use parentheses as  delimiters for letters or numbers in a list or outline, as well as in academic  uses including  parenthetical references to a list of works cited. Using Parentheses Correctly Parentheses (as with other punctuation marks) can be tricky to use until you understand a few simple rules: Adding additional information:  June Casagrande, author of The Best Punctuation Book, Period., notes that you can use parentheses to convey additional information, such as: The new sedan is fast (it goes from zero to 60 in just six seconds). The boss (who had walked in just in time to see the accident) was furious. She strolled the third  arrondissement  (district). In the first sentence, the statement,  The new sedan is fast, does not end with a period. Instead, you place the period after the parenthetical sentence (as well as the final parenthesis),  it goes from zero to 60 in just six seconds. You also start the parenthetical sentence with a lowercase letter (i) because it is still considered part of the overall sentence and not a separate statement. In the second sentence, you might argue that the parenthetical information (the fact that the boss saw an accident) is key to understanding the sentence. In the third sentence, the parenthetical word district is an English translation of the French word  arrondissement. Though the word  district  is parenthetical, it might be important in helping a non-French-speaking reader understand the sentence. Delimiters for letters or numbers in a list:  The Chicago Manual of Style says you should put parentheses around each number or letter in a list, as in these examples: Compose three sentences to illustrate analogous uses of (1)  commas, (2)  em dashes, and (3)  parentheses.For the duration of the experiment, the dieters were instructed to avoid (a)  meat, (b)  bottled drinks, (c)  packaged foods, and (d)  nicotine. Ins, as noted by  Purdue OWL, are: According to Jones (2018), Students often had difficulty using APA style, especially when it was their first time (p. 199).  Jones (2018) found students often had difficulty using APA style (p. 199); what implications does this have for teachers? The study participants showed no improvement in cholesterol levels (McLellan and Frost, 2012). For these types of parenthetical citations, you generally include the year of the publication, the author(s) names, and, if needed, the page number(s). Note also that in the previous sentence, you can use parentheses around a single letter, indicating that the word number may be singular referring to a single page number, or it may be plural, referring to two or more page numbers or that there may be only a single author or several authors. Mathematical problems:  In  math,  parentheses are used to group numbers or variables, or both. When you see a math problem containing parentheses, you need to use the  order of  operations  to solve it. Take as an  example the problem:  9 - 5 à · (8 - 3) x 2 6. In this problem,  you would  calculate the operation within the parentheses first, even if it is an operation that would normally come after the other operations in the problem. Parenthetical Observations Neil Gaiman really likes parentheses. Biographer Hank Wagner quoted the British author in Prince of Stories: The Many Worlds of Neil Gaiman explaining why he is a fan of these curved punctuation marks: I admired [C.S. Lewiss] use of parenthetical statements to the reader, where he would just go talk to you. Suddenly the author would address a private aside to you, the reader. It was just you and him. Id think, Oh, my gosh, that is so cool! I want to do that! When I become an author, I want to be able to do things in parentheses. Gaimen may feel blessed when the author offers him a personal aside, but other writers say that parentheses may be a clue that the sentence is becoming contorted. As author Sarah Vowell notes in her book, Take the Cannoli: Stories From the New World, with a touch of sarcasm: I have a similar affection for the  parenthesis  (but I always take most of my parentheses out, so as not to call undue attention to the glaring fact that I cannot think in complete sentences, that I think only in short   fragments  or long,   run-on  thought relays that the literati call   stream of consciousness  but I still like to think of as disdain for the finality of the period). So take the advice of The Associated Press Stylebook. Be kind to your readers and use parentheses sparingly. Rewrite your sentence if you find you are including long asides or more than one set of parentheses. Use these punctuation marks only when you have a short, pithy, and interesting bit to convey to readers to heighten their interest- not confuse them.

Global business investment Coursework Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words

Global business investment - Coursework Example Because of this reason, exchange rates analyzed, watched and manipulated economic measures by the government. Exchange rates are also useful when examined on a smaller scale: they influence the real return of the portfolio of an investor. There are several factors that affect exchange rates. Before we examine these factors, it is important to look at how exchange rate affects the trading relationships between countries. A lower currency is considered to make exports of a country cheaper and imports expensive in the foreign markets. A higher currency is considered to make exports of a country expensive and imports cheaper in the foreign markets. Hence, a lower rate of exchange will increase the balance of trade of a country while a higher rate of exchange is expected to lower it. There are several factors that have influence on exchange rates, and they are associated with the trading relationship between countries on a global level known as internationalization or globalization (Hill 2012). It is significant to understand that exchange rates are expressed as a comparison of two currencies from two countries. It is also significant to understand that these factors cannot be discussed in a specific order; similar to numerous aspects of economics, the significance of these factors is usually subjected to discussion. The following are discussed determinants that influence exchange rate between countries. Exchange rates, interest rates, and inflation are all highly correlated. Central banks in manipulating interest rates can exert influence on both exchange rates and inflation, and altering interest rates influence currency and inflation values. Interest rates that are high offer lenders high return in an economy relative to other countries. For this reason, interest rates that are high attract a huge amount of foreign capital and result in a rise in the exchange rate. For instance, if the United Kingdom rates rise in relation to elsewhere, it becomes

Occupy Wall Street movement Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2750 words

Occupy Wall Street movement - Research Paper Example This paper focuses upon the Occupy Wall Street Movement. Canadian activist Adbusters founded the movement with the aim of protesting against economic inequality, social injustices, high unemployment rates, corruption, and the fact that concentration of power and wealth was at the hands of a few individuals and institutions. The movement also felt that corporations were applying undue influence on the government. To do away with these kinds of mistreatments and injustices, it was necessary to protest so that the plight of the people could be heard which led to the formation of the movement. The Wall Street Movement felt that the United States and the world at large were highly affected with economic inequality where power and wealth was in the hands of a few individuals and institutions. The economic inequality exist both in distribution of income and economic assets. The Movement argues that since the country’s wealth was unfairly distributed, high level of socioeconomic inequ ality was unavoidable. High socioeconomic inequality would have affected negatively the social welfare of the people. This would see a reduction in life expectancy, high infant mortality rates, emotional depressions, high rate of diseases among others. Therefore, the movement felt that if it staged a protest, this would put pressure on the government to adopt strategies that could see the socio economic disparity reduce. The means with which the economic disparity could be diminished was to pressurize the government to adopt a progressive taxation. ... The movement protested at the manner in which the government handled educational matters. The government at some points did not provide adequate facilities in some of the areas of learning. This led to low quality of education resulting in decreased labor provision in various industries. Educational inequality also existed between the rural areas and urban areas where the urban schools were given fair treatment by the state as compared to those in rural areas. The movement is of the opinion that even those who live in rural areas should not be denied access to better education. The movement, therefore, protested against the educational inequality (Conrad 77). Social heath inequality was also a matter of concern for the Occupy Wall Street Movement in America. For example, it was evident that the health facilities were discriminatorily distributed to favor just those of high status in the society. The distribution of the health facilities were according to the Movement was racially man aged. A past study shows that African America women are more likely to die of a treatable disease than their white counterparts (Bartels 56). This shows the extent to which race plays a big role in the provision of health services, a thing that the Wall Street is highly opposed to. The research also shows that, the lesbians and the gays in America are discriminated against and are not provided with proper health care. All this kind of inequalities prompted the Occupy Wall Street Movement to stage a protest to ensure that the government provides health services equally without discrimination based on race, sexual orientation, or culture. Gender inequality is another issue that the movement had to protest against. For example, according to the

Should Government assist business Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Should Government assist business - Essay Example up tariff schemes and other import restrictions; assists in foreign operations; provides for a postal system; conducts and encourages research and development; pays out vast sums for goods, services, and transfer payments; and helps in maintaining a sound banking system (Isaacs & Slesinger, 1964, p. 10). Therefore, the purpose of this essay is to illuminate the benefits of this assistance provided by the US government to business on economy and also about the burden it implies on the government and its policies and then come to a point to decide as to should government assist small businesses in their effort to be a part of internationalization by entering into export market. Encouraging exports is a primary concern of most governments. In the United States, the Department of Commerce has many programs devoted to the development and nurturing of beginning exporters. Substantial resources are devoted to export promotion programs designed to increase the propensity of small companies to export. However, while useful politically throwing monetary resources at a problem can be very wasteful. In the era of government budgetary problems and fiscal frugality, program accountability is part of every politician and administrators agenda. In the export promotions sector, the need to spend money wisely has emerged as a key concern. Government assistance refers to the policies that a government puts forth to help the exporter conduct international business. Studies have shown that governments can either help or hinder the export process. Typically, they help by providing information, sale leads, tax incentives, insurance, and financing programs. Czinkota and Ricks (1981) and Reid (1984) found that government assistance could stimulate export activity by providing relevant information. Governments can also hinder export decisions via their foreign exchange rate policy. Bauerschmidt, Sullivan, and Gillespie (1985) found that a high U.S. dollar relative to foreign currency

Small Classes Benefit Students

Small Classes Benefit Students Every year class size reduction is one of the hottest topics. This topic has been studied numerous times, but is often ignored due to financial challenges. Teachers, parents, and students are constantly demanding smaller classes, because it would benefit education and faculty engagement. There are many aspects that affect the teaching process. Class size is shown to be a major factor. How the teacher teaches, or the student learns all leads back to the classroom. An organization called, Project STAR ( Student/Teacher Achievement Ratio) has studied students since 1985 and found that the size of the classroom does indeed have an affect on the performance of the students. In Joe Agrons Good things come in small packages., He explains the findings of STAR, class sizes from 13 to 17 outperformed students from larger classesà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¦. With having smaller class size it creates a more manageable environment, and allows the students to learn more of the content. If schools would reduce class sizes it would up the graduation rate at least ten percent, and more kids will go to college (Argon). When having small classes the student will want to interact more, and not have the fear of not knowing an answer in front of thirty plus kids. The student will be open to learning a nd being more involved in the classroom. Creating a comfortable environment will cause students to drop out less frequently (Argon). If students are comfortable and more open to school, it allows them to be more eager to take challenging classes and learn subjects on a more advanced level which would later benefit them in college. Along with the many factors , time plays a big role in students and teachers experience in school. Teachers must have enough time to teach their lessons, and students need enough time to fully understand the topic they are being taught. In Cakmaks academic journal it states, Time is an important aspect in teaching because teachers need time to manage time effectively in order to implement their strategy. (Cakmak). This meaning if the teacher has less students they would be able to thoroughly teach the content. In the classroom of thirty students, at least twenty of them need more time studying the topic. With having a large amount of students and a small amount of time, only ten of those students are able to fully understand the topic while the rest have to stay behind. The teachers offer tutorials before and after school, but out of seven class periods about one hundred and forty students are coming in for help. If the classes are reduced, the amount of students that need help will drop. This would allow the teacher more time to have one on one with each individual. Class size not only affects younger children, but it also takes a big toll on students who are studying in college. The amount of time a teacher has with a student only shortens as the children get older. The class sizes are constantly growing, once a student enters college they are facing five hundred plus students. In a class that big the professors help or attention is limited to a small portion to the class. There is little to no interaction between the student and teacher. When or if the student needs help on a subject, they are more liable to push it aside because they are not comfortable with speaking to the professor. This will change if the professor was allowed more time to understand each student and know more about them as well as the student knowing their professor. Time and interaction plays a large role in the classroom and is constantly ignored. If they are not allowed either one, the desire to be in school and get help becomes less of a want each day. The reason behind not having enough time to interact and teach a lesson all leads to the amount of students in the classroom. At any age the teacher must deal with the behavior of the children in the classroom. Everyday a student is prone to act up and disrupt the class, whether it be horse playing or refusing to do work. Having a large class creates chaos with student behavior, which cause the teacher to stop his or her lesson to correct the issues. Each time the lesson is stop, a student is distracted by the situation and has loss focus on the topic. While the teacher is correcting the behavior, the lesson remains on hold and the content is never fully explained. If the student is unable to have the teachers undivided attention due to discipline, then they are left with having to figure out the content on their own. According to Does class size really matter? less students create a steady environment, Teachers believed to cover more content in greater depth and have fewer discipli ne problemsà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¦. Reducing the class size will not completely end behavioral issues, but it will bring it down to a minimum. Each student will then be allowed more time in the classroom, and will allow the teacher to continue teaching a topic with distractions to them or the student. If the teacher spends less time having to correct a students bad behavior, it could reduce stress (Johnson. Hatie) . Johnson states it may seem possible that creating a less stressful work environment for teachers might increase the likelihood they they will stay in the profession.(Johnson) , class size reduction is expensive, but so is replacing teachers who quit due to the issues in the classroom. If the teacher is pleased, the student will enjoy learning in their classroom. Everything falls back to how comfortable the student and teacher are, and how much of the content is being taught, and understood. If this can be corrected by simply reducing the amount of students put into a classroom, then why is it that the school board is sitting in the shadows. Reducing class size is a constant worry to most schools, because of the cost they would have to pay to make the classes smaller. When the topic comes up , the tension between the school and parents become more apparent. Every school believes a childs education is an important aspect of their everyday life, and they would do anything to help them. In the academic journal, Class size reduction The National-Parent Teacher Association show that, combining funds for class size reduction and professional development into a teacher-quality block grant in the No Child Left Behind Actà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¦(The Reading Teachers) this leaves many districts and teacher with having to choose between the two. Providing a better learning environment for students is constantly put on hold until the district can decide whether they want to pay for cost that come along with the change. As the schools and deciding and slowly pushing the topic aside, students a beginning to struggle in the classroom, and fall b ehind on topics. Everyone praises the No Child Left Behind Act, but yet when the chance to help a child is in view of a district, it suddenly disappears. With the way the schools go about this, it leaves parents and students wondering if it is really no child left behind, or are the schools steadily letting the children get lost in the clouds. The Merger of Allianz Group and Dresdner Bank Essay -- Business Market

The Merger of Allianz Group and Dresdner Bank 1. Introduction   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  In our days mergers and acquisitions are a predominant feature of the international business system as companies attempt to exploit new market opportunities and to strengthen their market positions. Each year sets a new record for the total value of mergers and acquisitions and nearly every day new announcements are made in the business newspapers.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  In the literature one finds a large number of explanations for the occurrence of mergers and acquisitions. Sometimes, these explana-tions are also applicable to related forms of interindustrial links such as joint ventures or strategic alliances. Therefore it is necessary to define the term merger and acquisition as it will be used throughout this paper. 1.1 Definition of the Term Merger and Acquisition   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Two different phenomena are described by the term merger and acquisition. A merger is a combination of two corporations in which only one survives and the merged corporation goes out of existence. It is a unification of two or more firms into a new one and thus characteri-zed by the fact that after unification there are fewer firms than before. On the contrary can the target firm after an acquisition either remain autonomous or be partially and/or wholly integrated into the new parent company. However, from a legal point of view the firms remain independent entities.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  In most of the cases, one company acquires the majority or minority equity stake in another which is not a true merger in the legal sense. The two companies are not legally united, but form an economic unit where both remain legally independent, a so-called quasi-merger. The term acquisition mainly is used when more than 50% of a company's equity are purchased, i.e. the buyer gains complete control over its target. Equity stakes of lesser percentages are referred to as minority holdings.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  In spite of the legal difference between mergers and acquisi-tions, both terms are often used together. In international business the expression merger and acquisition, abbreviated M & A, or only merger, has become a general term referring to all kind of activities which are related to the selling and buying of a company. It includes classical mergers and acquisitions as well as management-buy-outs and management-buy-ins, minority equity purchases, joint-vent... ...t boost of the operation profitability, a leaner portfolio and reduction of complexity and (the Plus One) sustainable increase of the competitive strength and value. By mid 2004 the revenue growth initiatives started as well as the imple-mentation of the new business model and for end of 2004 a positive net income was expected. By mid 2005 the "New Dresdner" will be imple-mented and by the end of this year cost of capital will be earned.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Indeed, the results of last year which just now have been published show that 2004 was a year of profitable growth for Allianz. There was a significant increase in the operating profit which rose by â‚ ¬2.8 billion to â‚ ¬6.9 billion and the net income reached â‚ ¬2.2 billion. When i grow up

Like many toddlers, I was fascinated by building blocks. They held me spellbound for hours on end and pushed me to make some imaginative, if not structurally unsafe buildings. I thus grew up with a great passion for architecture, and was very certain I would one day be an architect. But as I drifted into Secondary school, my interests changed. History, among all subjects captivated me the most. I grew very much interested in the past, and as I went from â€Å"Ancient Egypt† to â€Å"Communist Russia† I ound myself captivated by the running of the world.Current affairs became my interest and I deviated from the cartoons in the newspapers to ground-breaking articles on the front page. As years passed, however, Diplomacy as a career seemed more interesting and engaging to me†mostly due to the many sensational events that took place (the Iraq War, the Chernobyl disaster, and the like). Gone were the dreams of building a sky- scraper or discovering a lost civilization; I had a burning passion to be something ther than the usual doctor lawyer or businessman†being a diplomat would fit the bill perfectly.A career as a diplomat would be ideal for me because it involves so many great opportunities: travelling around the world; learning how other countries function; getting a chance to interact with people of different cultures. Most of all, it means I can do what I love, that is, immerse myself in the current affairs of the world, and get paid for it. Most people see a diplomat as person who simply enjoys life abroad on taxpayer's money. I completely disagree with this view.Diplomats are often involved in handling issues could mean war or peace. It is this kind of challenge that makes feel even more inclined towards thus career. I also would like to be a diplomat because it would give me the opportunity to meet world leaders who I have grown up reading books about Would you like a career that is different, active, fresh and can fulfill some of y our real reams? Being a diplomat is more than an ideal career for me, it's a Job that will help to help others.More than that, it is a chance to make the world a safer place. Imagine peace in the Middle East, an America with more humility and peace treaties that do what they set out to do†all this can be achieved through the diplomat's skill of perception, knowledge of the past and the ability to listen. Look out for my name in the future†I do hope you will come to know and respect it. when i grow up By abdulgolden When I Grow Up When I grow up I would like to be a nice and caring Pediatrician (Physician). A pediatrician is a child's physician. I chose this wonderful job because I love children and I want to help them. The one thing I like most about kids is their creativity. They generally have a really open mind and are able to come up with some very interesting solutions to things that older people, would never come up with.I loved being a small kid, I had a lot of attention from my family, did not have to stress out about anything, and most importantly I did not have to go to school. To be honest, I am still a little scared about going to the doctor. When I went once to get the flu shot I was really scared, but before I knew it, it was over. The doctor made me feel so good about myself, she made me feel strong. Then, I looked up at my dad and said this â€Å"daddy, I want to be a nice and caring pediatrician like her†.Duties/Obligation(s)A pediatrician has a lot of duties /obligations even if they are general pediatrician. He/she supervises their support staff to see that the office runs professionally and efficiently. They also need to make sure they provide care for infants, children, teenagers, and young adults. They diagnose and treat infections, injuries, genetic defects, malignancies, organic diseases, and dysfunctions.Large part of a pediatrician's job involves treating illnesses. These can be everything from everyday illnesses such as colds and strep throat, to milestone childhood diseases such as measles, mumps and chicken pox. A pediatrician examines the patient first, next orders tests if needed, and then analyzes test results, last diagnoses the illness and decides on a treatment plan.Education/Special Skills RequiredTo become a Pediatrician you first need to pass the General Education Development. Classes like biology, physics, and chemistry will prepare you for the type of coursework you will be studying in medical school. Then you graduate from a four year univ ersity (collage). Next you take the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT). The MCAT is a standardized multiple-choice test that is required for admission to medical school. Finally finish medical school. Most medical school programs are four years long. Once you have graduated from medical school, you will need to complete a three year pediatric training program at a hospital before you can start your own practice.Last you need to get board certified, which means you can be a pediatrician now. But there are some important qualities you must have. Like communication skills, Pediatricians need to be excellent communicators. They must be able to communicate effectively with their patients and other Healthcare support staff. They also need patience. Pediatricians may work for long periods with patients who need special attention. Children and patients with a fear of medical treatment (like me) may require more patience. But most importantly problem solving skills, they need to evaluate p atient’s symptoms and administer the appropriate treatments. They often need to do this quickly in order to save a patient’s life. Before you go into all these you need to have demanding education and training requirements.Salary ExpectationsAnother thing of why I want to be a pediatrician is because of how much salary I get. Though the average salary of a pediatrician is around $142,585 per year, that is only a range .Now 10% of pediatricians get $41.78 every hour they work, but on the other hand 25% of pediatricians get $59.18 every hour they work. What I am really happy about is that 50% of pediatricians get $74.34 every hour they work. In the future 4.2% of pediatricians will get $80.59 hourly, which means when I grow up I have chance of getting that much money.Depending on the country and place you live will change or maybe stay the same of your salary. Like if I live in Baton Rouge, LA I would earn $118.81 hourly. But if I live in San Diego-Carlsbad-San Marcos, C A I would get $76.40. Since I am hoping to be the manger I will have to spend some of my salary on stickers toys and stuff  like that to make my patients happy and make sure they come back to me whenever they get sick or ill. Also I would need to give salary to my employments. This means, I need to work a lot of hours and be a great doctor/ manager.

Hoist With His Own Petard

Hoist With His Own Petard Hoist With His Own Petard Hoist With His Own Petard By Maeve Maddox I think Keith Olbermann may have had something to do with popularizing this Shakespearean expression. In July 2005 Olbermann, writing about the London bus bombing, wrote: July 21st may turn out to be the day the terrorists began to blow themselves up - hoist themselves, as the Middle English phrase goes, â€Å"on their own petard.† I cant guess why he called it a Middle English phrase. The expression, meaning blown up by his own bomb, comes from Shakespeares time (1605). By then, Middle English had morphed into Modern English. As recently as Election Eve 2008, Olbermann was still using the phrase: Im trying to give Gov. Palin out there, a couple more seconds to figure out how she managed to get herself, as Shakespeare wrote of people destroyed by their own evil plans, hoist with her own petard.† Keith Olbermann October 31, 2008 Here is how the expression is used in Hamlet (III, iv, 206-208): For tis the sport to have the enginer Hoist with his own petar, ant shall go hard But I will delve one yard below their mines, And blow them at the moon. Hamlet is talking about his old college chums Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. Theyve been spying on him for the king, and Hamlet suspects they are laying a trap for him. Hes planning his own preà «mptive strike. A petar was an explosive device. It got its name from the French verb pà ªter, which means to break wind. The Old French noun pet means fart. Shakespeare was making one of his earthy puns here. Note that in the original expression, hoist is a verb in the past tense. Writers who want to use the expression correctly need to keep that fact in mind. The hoist of current English usage retains the same meaning, to raise, to lift up, but in modern usage, the past tense form has been regularized to hoisted. Ex. The crane hoisted the girder into place. Commentators who dont know their Shakespeare get it wrong: The amusing context for this interview, was watching Keith Olbermann hoisted on his own petard. Donklephant, March 15, 2008. I mean who are the REAL victims here? CBS News has been hoisted on its own petard Cecelia, commenting on Dan Rather scandal, January 24, 2005. Interview Report Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Interview Report - Assignment Example Mr. Joe has worked at different positions within the company at different points in time. He started at the basic level where he provided help in different kinds of tasks and over the time, acquired new skills and talents and ultimately became the Branch Manager of the company. Mr. Joe has worked with a paralegal company before where he learnt image scanning. His ability to manipulate images played a fundamental role in his selection in Joseph & Merritt. Mr. Joe shared his experiences with this company and has thrown light upon the risks, challenges, opportunities, and strategies to be successful. In this paper, I have discussed the main points that I gained from the interview and have reflected upon my experience of conducting this interview. This interview was a very informative session for me in which I learnt many things from Mr. Joe. One thing that I have gained from the interview is that a businessman has to actively observe the market all the time in order to identify what are the current trends and business practices. For example, having observed that immense reliance on technology has made the businesses digital in their practices, Joseph Merritt & Company assessed the risk of decrease in the need of printing in the future and accordingly started offering new kinds of services including the sale of printing equipment and providing its clients with software services. Another thing that I have observed is that managing a business is much more interesting as compared to serving in a company as an employee. The main reason for this is that when one has one’s own business, it puts one in a position to experiment according to one’s knowledge, understanding, and assessment. One becomes more responsible since the future of the business is integrally linked with the extent to which the businessman makes informed and timely decisions. Working as an employee in a company provides very little, if any, opportunity to an individual to modify the busine ss practices and there is usually very little appreciation whereas in business, even the losses are a source of learning for an individual because they tell how the strategies have to be modified to gain success. Success attained from personal decision making is a big motivation driver, which is why business is fulfilling and satiating psychologically, and emotionally. I also learnt that in order to do business in a rapidly changing market as the contemporary market, it is imperative that one knows what the right kinds of services are to be offered at a particular place at a particular point in time. For example, Joseph Merritt & Company has different kinds of clients in different places where its branches have opened. In some places, most of the business is conducted with the construction companies whereas in other places, schools and other institutions are the potential clients. Mr. Joe told me a lot about the use of social media in business in the contemporary age. Till now, I th ought of social media only as a platform where people socialize with their family and friends and make new friends or run campaigns. This interview has told me a lot about the significance of social media as a business tool. I have found out how social media is being increasingly used by the companies and businessmen to approach potential clients, share information with them about the company’
